Pat and I spent the weekend of February 18th and 19th in Redding. On Saturday, I tied at the Turtle Bay Museum at the invitation of the Shasta Trinity Fly Fishers for the show “Fly Fishing, the art of Deception”. While Pat wandered around the museum and went fishing at the Posse Grounds, I tied. Not fair? That’s OK, as I had a great time meeting a lot of new people and seeing a great exhibit. If you get the chance you should see it.

Double hook-up, Pat and I
Sunday we floated from Bonnieview to Anderson with Brian Bommarito from the Fly Shop. What a gorgeous day –Temperatures in the low sixties, very little wind and the river was in great shape at 4000 cfs. Of course, that really is a cause for concern as we need more water or our rivers will be in sad shape in the fall!
The fishing was excellent all day. We did nymph most of the time although Pat did get a nice rainbow on a Missing Link caddis. There was a terrific emergence of Brachycentus in the afternoon and the fish were eating pupa and a few cripples but they really weren’t attuned to the hatch yet. Great day!
