Lower Yuba

Ralph hooking a big one on the Lower Yuba

Eight miles of the main Yuba, upstream from the Highway 20 bridge, are designated as “Special Regulation” water. These regulations are: barbless artificials, catch and release only. These regulations serve to protect one of the last remaining stocks of wild steelhead in the State of California. The Lower Yuba also harbors an excellent run of Shad during the early spring and summer months. Tying into one of these 3# to 5# silver bullets can be one of the highlights of the fly fisherman’s spring. View our FAQs for more information.
